"Perhaps it is more than luck." Galahad mused. "Perhaps we have divine approval for what we do."
He snorted. "It is ironic that they will burn as it will give them a taste in advance of what awaits them after death."

"Aye, that is most fitting. They deserve no better. Ready, Sir Galahad?"

The fire was lit and soon they had a good blaze going, but they made sure to keep it well out of sight of the cave's mouth so the bandits wouldn't spot them. As they waited, two more men appeared and entered the cave, but they didn't spot the soldiers. The two archers readied their bows, dipped their arrows into the roaring fire and shot into the cave. The mouth of the cave was lit for a moment and then there was a scream as the sleeping guard was awoken by a burning arrow in his chest. He tried to pull it out but it wouldn't come. The second arrow embedded itself in his leg. Soon he was nothing but flame. The archers fired yet more arrows into the cave. Smoke and flame were all that could be seen and then men appeared, coughing, weapons in their hands.

"Let us show these bandits how true men fight." Galahad cried and charged forward to deal with the men who had thus far avoided the fire arrows.

With the element of surprise on their side, Galahad and his companions were able to deal with the frontrunners, while the archers picked off others. But then a knot of perhaps ten men rushed the five men with swords and they engaged in combat.

One of the men with Galahad and panics, trying to run, but he trips and falls flat on his face with a cry of pain and one of the bandits stabs him in the back. The other men are rallied by Galahad and prepare for battle. The old knight stands shoulder to shoulder with Galahad, a determined expression on his face.
"For Arthur and Dumnonia," he murmurs.
The fight begins. While his companions are engaged by various bandits, Galahad finds himself up against a tall, brawny fellow with a mad look in his eyes, his clothes slightly scorched.
"Die!" He yells.

The old knight and his soldiers fight hard. Two of them are cut down by bandits, while the other two solders dispatch their opponents easily. The older knight is more skilled and manages to dispatch two men. They continue to fight the remaining men. One of the soldiers falls down wounded but the old knight and the remaining man manage to dispatch them. Meanwhile, Galahad falls unconscious to the ground while his opponent howls his victory to the skies. Until the last remaining soldier cuts him down. The old knight and the remaining soldier did their best to tend their wounded, though neither were skilled healers. The knight shook Galahad gently in an attempt to wake him.

Galahad twitches on the ground, barely conscious.

He feels terrible pain as they tend his wounds. Some time later - Galahad doesn't know if it's five hours or five minutes - the sound of hoofbeats can be heard. All he knows is that he is somewhere cool and fairly dark. OOC - switching you back to Morgan's quest group if that's ok? And sorry you had some awful rounds in that fight, but I wanted to give you one that was actually worth fighting and it seemed the virtual dice weren't on your side.
